Heartless is a book close to my heart. Pun intended, I guess. LOL! For months before I committed to writing it, I'd been dying to write a super niche fairy tale retelling. One that people haven't seen over and over again. The Giant Who Had No Heart in His Body was one I remember hearing about from childhood.
I thought that there was a lot of room and freedom to adapt this one into something truly unique while keeping the heart of the original story in mind. It made me laugh a little bit when a reader left a Goodreads review about the book having too many characters. Clearly, they weren't very familiar with the fact that there were 7 princes and 7 princesses in the original, a fact which I stayed true to while adding to a cast so that there was a meaningful story to be had there.
